The Effect of Job Search Stress of College Students on Mental Health and Suicide Behavior - Mediating Effect of Ego Resilience-

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural re lationship between job search stress, ego-resilience, mental health, and suicide behavior of college students through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). In order to secure the research ethics, the study was conducted a fter gaining the research permission in October 23, 2018 from Institute Review Board (IRB). An online questionnaire was administered to 338 male and female college students in Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Busan. The final ana lysis included 334 data. SPSS ( Ver.21)was used for descriptive statistics analysis and AMOS(Ver.18.0)was used for causality verified t hrough analysis of structural equation model. The main result of this study is as follows. First, job search stress was positively related t o menta l health an d sui cide behavior of college students. Second, ego-resilience has negative effects on college students' menta l health an d sui cide behavior. Third, the mediating effect of ego-resilience on the relationship between job search stress, mental health and suicide behavior of college students is significant. This study found that job search stress directly affects mental health and suicide behavior. In addition, ego-resilience plays a mediating role and has an indirect effect. Based on these findings and discussions, I will suggest some suggestions for a follow-up study.
